Dancers in the Park
Playful Interludes in Public Spaces
Design Week Portland invited Sticky to create a temporary installation celebrating Lawrence Halprin, designer of the internationally acclaimed Portland Plazas. Describing his vision for the series of parks as “a choreographed sequence of open spaces,” Halprin was influenced by his wife, Anna, a passionate choreographer and dancer. Inspired by his reflections, Sticky transformed eight of Pettygrove Park’s lollipop lampposts into dancers. Combining wood, fabric and motors, we adorned each lamppost with a skirted costume that twirled spontaneously to the delight of passersby.
